One-of-a-kind Kintsugi Lidded Container
One-of-a-Kind Kintsugi Lidded Container_Collectible Item
This unique lidded container has been lovingly reconnected using traditional kintsugi — the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with lacquer mixed with powdered gold.
The piece cracked during my recent Raku firing, where the rapid shift between extreme heat and cold caused a single, stunning fracture. Rather than seeing this as a flaw, I recognised the beauty in the break — a perfect opportunity for kintsugi.
The resulting golden line is not just a repair but a celebration of imperfection and resilience. This is a true one-off piece, where the story of its creation is etched into its form — a reminder that brokenness can lead to unexpected beauty.
